{Document Your Days}

 I think it's important to share the good and the bad moments of parenting. And although I try to be very positive on my blog I have to remind myself that it's okay if I am struggling with something. So here's to anyone who had a day like me. The day that needs a big fat do over. This picture was drawn/written by Addy and hand delivered to me in my bedroom where I had run away to to sit in my own big puddle of tears. And for those who can't make out her oh so cute spelling it reads, "I am sorry for being mean. I WEALLY love you." And the pictures pretty readable. She's sad and I'm mad. Ouch. But I've said it before and I'll keep saying it to myself. Tomorrow is a new day. Parenting is a daily struggle, but I love my littles to pieces. So tomorrow we'll see if I can't turn that frown, upside down

Fast forward to the next day. I was bound and determined to not have a repeat of the day before so we got out of the house and went on a little adventure! We went to the Butterfly House, rode the carousel, played at the park, and went to the mall to do a little bit of shopping! The frowns were definitely turned upside down ;-)

It's a good thing they're cute. And a really good thing that they are so forgiving of me and each other. We'll get this summer routine down eventually, but right now we are still in the adjustment phase I think.

{Document Your Days}

 It is crazy to me that summer just started and I already feel like it's over. Our summer is going to be that crazy! Lot's of traveling, lot's of company, and a whole lotta fun times ahead of us! But for now, I'm just trying to let these kids have a simple summer before the craziness starts. Sleeping in, riding bikes for hours on end outside, playing with the neighborhood kids, running through sprinklers, and eating popsicles. That's what summer's all about!

We've even managed to sneak in a couple pool side fun days with these cuties! Once we get home from our travels, they will be off on theirs and we won't see them until September! Boooo!

Ready or not, here we go. Bring on the crazy!

{Friends For Life}

It's been a pretty brutal month as far as Ryan's work schedule goes so we decided to take a much needed family get away for Memorial Day weekend! Destination: Peoria, Illinois. What is there to do there? Nothing. But some of our bestest friends ever live there so we didn't need anything but each other to stay entertained! I'm only partly kidding, there are a few things to do there ;-)

The men were headed to the golf course before the women were ever rolling out of bed our first morning there. I'm glad they got to go, they deserved it!

We hit up a cute ice cream/candy store in town square after watching Cole's baseball game.

Then we stopped for impromptu photoshoot in an alley way on the walk back to the car. Check out all those blonde babes! Getting a photo of five kids jumping is pretty much impossible by the way. Just in case you were wondering ;-)

Getting one of a bunch of silly faced blondes is very do able though.

We had a weekend full of staying up too late followed by taking turns falling asleep in the evenings (residency sure has made us lame and tired!), golfing for the guys, and shopping for the gals, kid sleepovers, dance parties, surprise cookies, and games!

What was the surprise in the cookies you ask? Just NINE . . . LONG . . . BLONDE . . . HAIRS. Guess that's what I get for letting all the kids help me make them. EEEEEK! By the end everyone was breaking their cookies into fourths and thoroughly examining each one. Bahaha! As Ben would say, "It's a free flossing!"

We love our Coombs fam! See you again soon!

{Last Day of School}

 Well, we did it! We became parents to a Kindergartner a year ago and we all survived! Miss Adalee learned that she could function with out a nap (the girls loves her sleep), learned to read, made lot's of new friends (about 10 too many boys ones, we're in trouble with this one), learned to eat a little faster (slowest eater ever right here, but they only get 20 minutes for lunch), and most importantly she learned that she LOVES school and she loved her teacher Mrs. Meyer. In fact when I picked her up from the bus stop on the last day she hopped off and immediately burst into tears and said, "I want my teacher!" Broke my heart. We are so very blessed to have gotten such an amazing, kind, sweet, and loving teacher to take care of her. It made sending her every day bearable.

Eli also had his last day of preschool and was sad to leave his friends and teachers behind as well. Eli learned that he was too big to take naps (ever), learned how to write all his letters, learned that getting messy is fun (glad he can explore messy things outside of my house), made lot's of new friends, loved his teachers, and always greeted me with a big hug and and "I missed you Mom!" when it was time for him to go.

I love looking at last and first day school photos and seeing how much they have changed in such a small amount of time. It's easy to go day in and day out with out realizing they're changing right before our eyes! Can you tell which picture was taken on a gloomy, ugly day?

Doesn't Miss Adalee look like she could belong with her teacher Mrs. Meyer?!

On the last day they let the families come for "Hot Dog Day" and ice cream from the ice cream truck. It seemed like a great way to start our upcoming Summer!

Bring on Summer, we are ready for you!!

{Happy Anni-Birth-A-Mother-Versary}

Okay so I know I shared separate posts about our anniversary and Mother's Day, but I really do have to share the real details that surround that week. The pictures I had to share were too precious to me to be shared with this story.

Happy Anni-Birth-A-Mother-Versary!!!!!
Say what?!

You know, where we celebrate our anniversary, my birthday, and Mother's day all in a week's time. It happens every year. It's Ryan's nightmare. Annnnyway, the week went something like this:

Ryan worked.

Ryan got off at decent time and picked up Chinese on his way home to celebrated our anniversary.

Ryan worked some more.

Ryan slept and worked and worked while he slept and slept while he worked. Okay that's a lie. He's not lucky enough to sleep while he works, but I'm sure he does dream he's' working while he's sleeping.

Ryan worked some more.

My birthday came.

Addy decided to be sick.

Ryan miraculously got off early and surprised me, actually scared the heck out of me, by walking in the door four hours earlier than expected and announced he was taking me to dinner. At least the world's lamest birthday ended on a good note!

Ryan worked, and worked some more.

Ryan slept.

Ryan worked the next 24 hours.

Mother's Day came.

Ryan spoke in church and somehow still managed to blow us away with his awesomeness even though he only had 20 minutes the entire week to work on it and had been awake for the last 28 hours.

Ryan CRASHED and burned after working 95 hours in a week.

All I wanted for Mother's Day was a day away from my children.

We both picked up what was left of our sanity, enjoyed our day together and prepared for another not so fun week.

Yep that about sum's up our week.

(Gorgeous flowers from my friend Chrissy for my birthday)

This life of ours is always full of surprises and we are often left exhausted at the end of our days, but to know that I get to have this amazing guy by my side through it all makes it all worth it. He was beyond sweet to me all week and was trying so hard to make me feel special despite his awful week at work. I kinda love him. A lot. Happy 8 years to us, 27 years to me, and a wonderful six years doing what I have wanted to do my entire life, be a Mom.

{Mommy and Me}

 I have been waiting for the right moment to share these photos and with today being Mother's Day I couldn't think of a better time than now. I believe with all my heart that our children are the most precious gifts ever given to us. For my friend Amy to have captured these moments of me with my littles, to have stopped time in it's tracks during these short years that are ever fleeting right before my eyes, to give me a memory that is mine forever, now that, that is is a precious gift. My wish for each of you this Mother's Day is that the sweetest "I Love You" you hear each day, and this Mother's Day, is from your little biggest fan.

 My arms and heart are full and I wouldn't have it any other way! Happy Mother's Day!
